Abai University at the Almaty Energy Forum

 

Zhanna Tilekova Head of the UNESCO chair in Educational Science and Teacher Training, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Candidate of Geographical Sciences, PhD in Ecology, Associate Professor and researcher of the department N.Opabekov fellow of the took part in the 3rd Almaty Energy Forum held on November 6-8, 2023, at the Kazakh-British Technical University.

 

Representatives of Ministries of Central Asian countries, energy industry experts, as well as international organizations - the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the United Nations Development Programme in Kazakhstan (UNDP) gathered at the KBTU site to raise the issue of accelerating the energy transition in the countries of Central Asia.

 

The participants of the event intend to promote regional cooperation, provide technical capacity support and help Central Asian countries to innovate, modernize their regional infrastructure and build sustainable energy systems that are safe, affordable and provide zero indicators.

 

The following speakers took the floor at the forum: Zhandos Nurmaganbetov, Vice Minister of Energy, Kazakhstan; Michaela Friberg-Storey, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan; Dario Liguti, Director, Sustainable Energy, UNECE; Katarzyna Wawiernia, Resident Representative, UNDP Kazakhstan; Maratbek Gabdullin, Rektor of Kazakh British Technical University.
