The results of work to improve the new Kazakh alphabet have been summed up


On March 10, 2020, employees of the scientific and practical center «Latyn» at the Abai KazNPU took part in an open discussion on summing up the work on improving the alphabet, organized by the akimat of Almaty and The Institute of linguistics of NAS of RK. During the discussion, the corresponding scientists reviewed and analyzed several issues that are causing controversy regarding the new national alphabet. During the discussion, the scientists reviewed and analyzed several issues related to the new national alphabet.

1.Marking the «У» sound in the new Kazakh alphabet based on the Latin alphabet.
2. The problem of writing new words in the new national alphabet.
3. Use of terms and borrowed words based on the new alphabet, adapted to our language, or preservation of the previous state .
In addition, the following issues were considered during the discussion:
1. Do I need to enter the letter C in the alphabet?
2. do you welcome the sound designation «Ч» with the letter C if it is enabled?
3. or is it correct to designate «Ц» with the letter C ?
4. do you welcome the transfer of sound «И» with Jj, so as not to confuse it , since the signs II - I and II in the presented alphabet are identical, and the sound «Ж» with Zz?
5. How to give the letter «Ы» correctly ?
6. can you confirm that the characters Ww, Xx, Cc should only be placed on the keyboard?


During the event, scientists substantiated their thoughts in scientific formulations and noted that they adhere to the principles set forth in due time by Akhmet Baitursynov. Following the discussion, the alphabet proposed by the Institute of Linguistics was supported. First, it was believed that it was necessary to develop an alphabet that could correctly label words, not problems associated with introductory words, comply with our laws, and reveal the features of sounds characteristic of the Kazakh language. The Latyn research and practice center plans to organize an exchange of views between teachers and students in order to discuss 3 controversial issues and make the right decisions.
