A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Abay KazNPU and CES and DRR

 

On May 4, 2018, Abay Kazakh National Pedagogical University signed a bilateral Memorandum of Cooperation with the meeting of the rector Takir Balykbaev and the director of the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction Valery Petrov.


The Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction is a permanent interstate body, an international organization established to provide effective mechanisms for mitigating the risks of emergencies and reducing their consequences, jointly responding through actions agreed by the parties, and stimulating regional and international cooperation.


The main directions of bilateral cooperation with Abay KazNPU are the development of academic cooperation (internship and internship) of students and employees, training of experts and professionals through special exercises and trainings, the creation and regular updating of the database of experts with a view to their involvement in the implementation of joint projects, as well as with the goal of forming volunteer organizations and taking practice in the field of disaster risk reduction, prevention and elimination of emergencies, the development of software products, the provision of products and services.


The rector Takir Balykbayev, the director of the Center for Emergency Situations and the DRR Valery Petrov, the chief expert of the Emergency Situations Department of the CES and DRR Batyrkhan Utepov, the First Vice-Rector Maktagali Bektemesov and the head of the Civil Defense Staff Yevgeny Saltanov took part in the event.


During the meeting rectorTakir Balykbayev spoke about the tasks facing the University in the year of the 90th anniversary: the need for modernization of higher education, systematic revision of educational programs for the real needs of the market, the development of digital educational resources. The rector focused on the approaches to teaching and improving the qualifications of teachers at the present stage.


In turn, the Director of the Center Valery Petrov acquainted the participants of the meeting with the activities of the Center, its goals, tasks and potential, and informed about the readiness to cooperate with all interested scientific institutions by planning and implementing joint activities in the field of risk reduction, prevention and liquidation of emergencies.


At the end of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the University and the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction. Rector Takir Balykbayev thanked the guests of the University, and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation.
