Lectures by an Estonian scientist

From 9th to 21st November 2020 at the Department of Russian Language and Literature of the Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education a scientist from Tallinn University (Estonia) Doctor PhD Alexander Danilevsky works as a visiting professor.

The literature scholar is known among Russian and European philologists as an expert on the history of Russian emigration. Students, undergraduates, doctoral students and teachers of the department had a happy opportunity to be convinced of this by listening to his course "Culture and Literature of the First Wave of Russian Emigration."

The distance format of scientific meetings does not interfere with communication at all. A. Danilevsky`s lectures captivate the audience with the lecturer`s wide erudition and his passion for the topic. Together with the Estonian scientist, we seem to be transported to the beginning of the twentieth century, with its tragic events that affected the fates of millions of people.

The literature of the Russian diaspora, which for many years was cut off from the reader, is actively studied today by literary scholars from different countries. Thanks to the lectures of A. Danilevsky, we also became participants in this process.
