Results of the VI International Student Contest of Local History Mathematics Problems for Primary School


The VI International Student Contest of Local History Mathematics Problems for Primary School received 140 submissions from 12 universities across Kazakhstan, Russia, and Uzbekistan. This demonstrates a steady increase in students’ interest in ethnomathematics, local history, and the methodology of designing culturally grounded math problems.

The submitted works stood out for their diversity of storylines, deep use of local historical material, and original methodological solutions. The best, most original, and author-developed works were awarded 1st place, reflecting the participants’ high level of pedagogical, research, and methodological preparation.

Universities participating in the contest (12 total): Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University (Almaty) — 29 works; Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University (Almaty) — 44; Kostanay Regional University named after Akhmet Baitursynuly (Kostanay) — 24; Volgograd State Socio-Pedagogical University (Russia) — 18; Academician E.A. Buketov Karaganda Research University (Karaganda) — 8; Fergana State University (Uzbekistan) — 7; Khalel Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University (Atyrau) — 2; Suleyman Demirel University (SDU) (Almaty) — 1; Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University (Kyzylorda) — 1; Kuban State University (Russia) — 1; Moscow City Pedagogical University (Russia) — 1; Perm State Humanitarian-Pedagogical University (Russia) — 4.

The jury included five primary school teachers from Almaty, faculty members from Moscow City Pedagogical University (Russia), Perm State Humanitarian-Pedagogical University (Russia), Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University, as well as the organizing instructors from the Department of Primary Education at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University.
