Workshop on teacher education 

 

Abai KazNPU Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation Aktolkyn Kulsariyeva and Head for International Programmes Office Marzhan Tajiyeva are participating in workshop within ESD on teacher education titled «Towards Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through Education» 27-29 November 2018, hosted by Okayama University (Japan) in partnership with UNESCO Bangkok, UNESCO Chair at York University (Canada), Okayama City and Asia-Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO.

 

The key aim of the workshop is to develop an ESD teacher framework and discuss possible blueprints of ESD teacher education programmes with an aim to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The discussion is being built on ongoing initiatives and practices of the participating institutions, as well as the experience of Okayama University and Okayama City in this field.

 

Within the workshop agenda participants were arranged to visit primary school to observe ESD embedded lessons, had opportunity to listen to series of lectures delivered by Prof.Charles Hopkins (UNESCO Chair at York University, Canada), Prof.Marcus Grace (University of Southampton, UK) and Prof.Utak Chung (Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding, Republic of Korea), moreover participants are working hard in group on designing ESD teacher education competencies and programmes.
