On October 27, 2025, an event dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the great thinker, poet, and educator Abai Kunanbayuly was held — an educational evening titled “The Wisest of the Wise – Abai.” The event was organized by the lecturer of the Department of Chinese Language and Sinology, Toktarbek S. Participants included the head of the department Alikhankyzy G., lecturers Meirkhan S., Raeva A.N., Beisen A., as well as 2nd- and 3rd-year students of the department. The main purpose of the event was to introduce students to Abai’s legacy in a deeper way, promote Kazakh culture through the Chinese language, and develop learners’ communicative and intercultural competence. The evening began with an exhibition titled “The Wisest of the Wise – Abai,” followed by welcoming remarks from the department lecturers. Abai Kunanbayuly’s life and works were presented in Chinese, emphasizing the global significance of his intellectual heritage. Students recited Abai’s poems expressively in Chinese, leaving a strong impression on the audience. In addition, the songs “Kózimnıń qarasy” and “Zhelsiz túnde zharyq ai” were performed in both Kazakh and Chinese, showcasing the richness of Kazakh culture in a multilingual format. During the event, slide presentations in Chinese were displayed, students performed short theatrical scenes, and a national dance was presented. An intellectual game titled “Knowing Abai” was held, with active participants receiving awards. The event contributed to students’ deeper understanding of Abai’s heritage, improved their Chinese-speaking skills, and fostered appreciation for national values. Students demonstrated their creative potential and enhanced their experience in intercultural communication. The evening was organized at a high level and made a significant contribution to promoting Kazakh spirituality and enriching the process of teaching Chinese in a cultural environment. .
