Chinese calligraphy: a master class where culture and art intersect

On April 11, 2025, teachers of the Philology Faculty, Chinese Language and Sinology Department of the Kazakh National University named after Abai Raeva A.N., Meirkhan Symbat held a master class at the "Aisaf Almaty" gymnasium.

This event not only increased students` interest in Chinese culture, but also developed their aesthetic taste, patience and attention skills.

The master class was held by intern student Madyarova Vasifa and Raeva A.N. Meirkhan Symbat, who told about the history, main styles and tools of calligraphy. Participants learned how to work with a brush, learned about the deep meaning of hieroglyphs and their artistic nature.

Students wrote hieroglyphs such as "friendship", "happiness", "peace" with their own hands and experienced the features of writing in Chinese. This increased their interest in the language and helped them realize the importance of cultural exchange.

The school administration noted that such events make a great contribution to broadening students` worldview and educating them to respect different cultures. The students, sharing their impressions, said that practicing calligraphy gave them peace and inspiration.

In conclusion, the master class on Chinese calligraphy was an educational event that demonstrated the harmony of knowledge and art. Such lessons develop intercultural dialogue and hone students` creative abilities.
