Secular Society and Spiritual Security: An Open Dialogue with Youth

On May 16, 2025, Nurlan Orynbekov, PhD, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Political Science and Socio-Philosophical Disciplines of the Faculty of History and Law at Abai University, held an educational and informative meeting with the readers of Library No. 14 in Almaty upon special invitation. The topic of the meeting was: "Secular Kazakhstan and Tolerance: Preventing Religious Extremism." During the event, special attention was paid to the concept of secularism in Kazakhstan, as well as to the traditions and value orientations of the Kazakh people. Specific examples of both past and present family values were discussed, emphasizing the importance of patriotism, love for the homeland, and respect for customs and traditions. The issue of legal responsibility for spreading extremist ideas was also addressed. The meeting was organized at a high level and generated great interest among the participants. Attendees received clear and comprehensive answers to their questions. This event carried significant educational value for young people.
