The opening ceremony of the advanced training program for mid- and senior management personnel from Central Asian countries in the field of new materials was successfully held at the Chongqing University of Science and Technology.


On December 1, 2025, in the afternoon, the opening ceremony of the program for advanced training of middle and senior management personnel of Central Asian countries in the field of new materials was held in conference hall 105 of the administrative building.


The project is supported by the Chongqing Mayor`s Silk Project Scholarship for International Students and organized by Chongqing University of Science and Technology. The event was attended by Qi Zhilin, Vice President of Chongqing University of Science and Technology; He Dongmei, Manager of Chongqing Wankai New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. representatives of relevant departments and faculties; faculty; and 20 students from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. Chen Yong, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, presided over the ceremony.


In his welcoming speech, Vice Rector Qi Zhilin warmly welcomed the guests and students from Central Asian countries and briefly introduced the university`s history, educational programs, personnel training system, and scientific achievements. He noted that China and the Central Asian countries share borders and close ties, and the successful completion of this course is an important step in implementing the Belt and Road Initiative and embodying the «China-Central Asia»spirit. He expressed hope that this program will help create a joint university-enterprise-science-industry platform and strengthen practical cooperation between China and Central Asia in higher education and scientific innovation.


He Dongmei, Manager of Chongqing Wankai New Materials Technology Co., Ltd., speaking on behalf of the companies, congratulated them on the successful launch of the program and emphasized that Wankai, as one of the world`s leading companies in the production of polyester bottle granulate, will strengthen cooperation with Central Asian countries in the energy and materials science sectors and will continue to support interactions between the university and enterprises, promoting mutually beneficial development in the areas of personnel training, the application of new materials, and market expansion.


Erzhan Akkazin, Candidate of Chemistry Sciences and Associate Professor of the Department of Chemistry at the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai, spoke on behalf of the audience and expressed deep gratitude for the invitation to participate in the program. He noted that he hopes the training will advance collaboration between the two universities in areas such as chemistry and materials science, facilitate personnel training and joint scientific research, and contribute to the development of new materials.


Following the ceremony, a meeting was held on cooperation between Chongqing University of Science and Technology and representatives of industry and research institutions from Central Asian countries in the field of new materials and the integrated integration of production, science, education, and application. At the meeting, the International Institute of Education, the School of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, the School of Metallurgy and Power Engineering, the School of Materials Science and New Energy, and the School of Computer Science and Engineering presented information on international cooperation, discipline development, research platforms, and personnel training prospects. It was noted that the program is an important practical measure to align with Chongqing`s «416 Plan» for scientific and technological innovation and the creation of a «33618» system of modern industrial clusters. The university intends to work with Central Asian countries to develop new mechanisms and avenues for collaboration with foreign universities, enterprises, and research institutes, enhancing the universities` ability to respond to government initiatives and serve the development of regional economies and societies. Professor of Zhetysu State University (Kazakhstan) Nurgalieva Dinara, director of the Tajik cooperative ZindagiRustam Zevaroshev, a HR manager from Kyrgyzstan at the Kazakh copper company Sattarova Zhypar, Adil Abdikhanov, a project manager at the Kazakh company Stratton, and other representatives participated in the discussion. They expressed their desire to strengthen cooperation with Chongqing companies in the field of new energy sources, promote the deep integration of new materials and smart manufacturing, and expand collaboration in education, science, and personnel training.


As is known, the thirty-day training course includes a systematic study of innovations in new materials, market development issues, and digital governance. Through corporate internships and cultural exchange events, participants will be able to gain an in-depth understanding of industry development trends and international cooperation strategies, jointly develop a vision for the future of the new materials industry, and inject new impetus into deeper cooperation between Chongqing and Central Asian countries in this field.
