Lecture by the Author of Kazakhstan’s Geometry Textbooks for Grades 7–11, Professor V.A. Smirnov “About Geometry”


On September 25, 2025, the university hosted a lecture by Professor V.A. Smirnov, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Head of the Department of Elementary Mathematics and Number Theory at Moscow Pedagogical State University, and co-author of geometry textbooks for grades 7–11. The lecture began with welcoming remarks from Professor A.E. Abylkasymova, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Head of the Department of Methods of Teaching Mathematics, Physics, and Informatics at Abai KazNPU, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Professor E.A. Tuyakov, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, co-author of the geometry textbooks. The audience included students, master’s and doctoral students of pedagogical programs in Mathematics, Mathematics and Physics, and Physics, as well as the teaching staff of the Department of Methods of Teaching Mathematics, Physics, and Informatics. Professor Smirnov delivered a lecture entitled “About Geometry”, in which he discussed the conceptual features of the geometry textbooks used in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation. He paid special attention to the methodology of teaching geometry, the development of students’ spatial thinking, and the fundamental scientific principles behind the creation of geometry textbooks. During the session, professors and students actively participated in the discussion, asked questions, and exchanged pedagogical experiences. The atmosphere of open dialogue made the lecture both informative and inspiring for future educators.

The event became a vivid example of productive cooperation between the university community and the authors of modern educational and methodological complexes.
