International mega-lesson in physics

On May 19, 2020, for the first time in conditions of self-isolation, the International integrated mega-lesson was held on the topic «How can knowledge of physics help save lives and preserve health?!».

The mega-lesson has been organized by Informatics and IT in Education Department of KSPU named after V.P. Astafiev (Russia, Krasnoyarsk) and the Informatics and Informatization of Education Department of Abai KazNPU.

The following schools of Kazakhstan and Russia took part in the event:

1. Turan lyceum, Informatics teacher Dautova T.K. (Almaty)

2. Lyceum №39 named after S.A. Khodzhikov, Informatics teacher Tulemissova G.N. (Almaty)

3. School of Entrepreneurs, Informatics teacher Dyakova N.E. (Almaty)

4. Gymnasium №9, Informatics teacher Potupchik Ye.G. (Krasnoyarsk)

5. Gymnasium №14, Informatics teacher Petrakov Ye.V. (Krasnoyarsk)

The leading coordinators: Burakova A.N. a teacher of gymnasium №9 (Krasnoyarsk), Akkassynova Zh.K. senior teacher of Abai KazNPU. The experts of the mega-lesson: a teaching staff of KSPU and KazNPU: Yakovleva T.K., Kamalova G.B., Khegay L.B., Ivkina L.M., Doroshenko Ye.G.

The interaction of all the participants in the mega-lesson was carried out using the Zoom video conferencing system.

During the mega-lesson, pupils with a big interest and enthusiasm have created informational videos, animations, booklets and presentations on the chosen topic: flood, earthquake, ice, inertia, sunlight, using various on-line services. Pupils` final products contain interpretations of these phenomena from the point of view of Physics, as well as probable solutions for the problems which can arise because of them.

At the end of the mega-lesson pupils highly appreciated the lesson and thanked the organizers for giving a chance to take part in such interesting and motivating event. School teachers, in turn, have noted the usefulness of the mega-lesson.

The conducted event has showed the significant potential of the Mega-class educational technology platform for effective training in the conditions of distance learning.
