Tournament for the Rector`s Cup «ABAI UNIVERSITY CUP»

On January 26-27, 16 students from 8 districts of Almaty hosted a mini-football tournament for the Rector`s Cup «ABAI UNIVERSITY CUP», which was attended by 250 students in the framework of the Youth Year, 2019 at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University.

The purpose of the traditional event was to support young people`s motivation for sports and to increase the importance of domestic football.

Vice- rector of Academic Affairs Asan Satmyrzaev, First President of the Kazakh Federation, head of the Department of Physical Education and Sport of the University, Professor Yergali Mukhiddinov, Chief Specialist of the Sports Department of the National Scientific and Practical Center for Physical Culture of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bakhtyar Yelemessov, Chairman of the Student rectorate of the University, Nursaya Bazarbekova took part in the grand opening of the tournament, and thanked the participants of the competition for their support.

The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Asan Satmyrzayev, addressing the participants of the tournament, recalled the words of the Head of State at a recent meeting with the youth of Kazakhstan that «... the guarantee of health is sports!». He conveyed to the students the idea that sport for the younger generation is an incentive to achieve high victories not only in sport, but also in mastering knowledge, this is fostering a desire for knowledge and creative culture. The leadership of the University is always in the center of students` interests and plays a significant role in student life, supporting good youth initiatives.

The tournament was held with the participation of selected teams of the city districts according to the Olympic system for two days. The city schools No. 93 and No. 197 reached the final.

According to the results of the tournament, among the school pupils the nomination «the best post» went to Kobybegin Abylay from # 167 school , and the nomination «the best player» went to Adylbayev Alisher from # 157 school, also the nomination «the best goalkeeper» went to Zhangozin Dosym, pupil of the school №115 and finally Kasen Sanzhar, a pupil of the school №108 won the nomination «the best defender».

The team of school No. 146 won the third place, the team of school No.197 - second place. According to the results of the tournament, school No. 93 won the Rector`s Cup.

Participants were awarded special diplomas, valuable gifts and cash prizes from the University.
