A MEETING DEDICATED TO THE 110TH ANNIVERSARY OF MALIK GABDULLIN WAS HELD

This year marks the 110th anniversary of the birth of Malik Gabdullin — a distinguished hero of Kazakhstan, an academician, scholar, and writer. To honor this significant milestone, a special event titled “The Life Journey and Spiritual Legacy of a National Figure” was held at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. The event welcomed special guests from the Malik Gabdullin Museum under the Department of Culture of Akmola Region.

The gathering brought together the director of the museum, Mukhammad Konkaev, museum researchers Meiramgul Shayakhmetkyzy and Ayagoz Muratkyzy, as well as students of the Faculty of Philology. The participants discussed Gabdullin’s immense contribution to national science and culture, his civic virtues, and the moral values he left for future generations.

The meeting was opened by Doctor of Philology, Professor Baltabay Abdigaziuly, who shared heartfelt memories about Malik Gabdullin. Museum director Mukhammad Konkaev then recounted a remarkable story that vividly reflects the noble character of the hero.

“While serving as rector of Abai KazPI, Malik Gabdullin helped a six-year-old girl named Azaliya, the daughter of a man unjustly labeled as an ‘enemy of the people.’ Having lost her parents and been sent to Kyrgyzstan, Azaliya was brought back to Almaty at Gabdullin’s initiative. He arranged for her admission to the university, provided her with a scholarship, and entrusted her to the best coaches. From that moment on, Azaliya began competing internationally and went on to become the first Kazakhstani woman to earn the Master of Sport title in athletics,” he said.

During the event, Mukhammad Konkaev also presented several books by Malik Gabdullin — specially brought from Kokshetau — as a gift to the university library. At the end of the meeting, museum researcher Ayagoz Muratkyzy offered an extensive overview of the hero’s life path, his service to the nation, and his enduring spiritual legacy.

It is worth noting that Malik Gabdullin served as rector of Abai KazPI (now Abai KazNPU) from 1944 to 1951, significantly contributing to the development of education and science in Kazakhstan.Press Service
