22.10.2025 CURRENT ISSUES OF MODERN PSYCHOLOGY DISCUSSED
On October 22, Abai University hosted an International Scientific and Practical Conference titled “Current Issues of Modern Psychology: Theory and Practice,” dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the prominent psychologist and academician Kulyash Orazbekova. Organized by the Department of General and Applied Psychology, the event focused on the discussion of pressing trends and challenges in contemporary psychological science.
The plenary session was opened by Bolat Tilep, Chairman of the Board and Rector of Abai KazNPU, who warmly congratulated the participants and highlighted Academician Orazbekova’s significant contribution to the development of psychological science in Kazakhstan. He emphasized her unique ability to harmonize humanistic ideals with national values, leaving a profound legacy in the moral education of the younger generation, and presented her with a traditional shapan as a sign of respect.
Berikzhan Almakhambetov, Chairman of the Veterans’ Council of KazNPU and Professor, delivered heartfelt remarks, praising the scholar’s outstanding work and dedication. Composer and laureate of the “QazaqAK” award Vladimir Pitertsov recited a poem specially dedicated to the celebrant.
The conference brought together professors, faculty members, students, and the pupils of Kulyash Aitmoldakyzy. The session was moderated by Acting Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology Gulmira Nietbayeva. Among the keynote speakers were Professor Alma Akazhanova (“Development and Formation of Scientific Fields in Kazakhstani Psychology”), Acting Dean Gulmira Nietbayeva (“Issues of Training Psychology Specialists in the Republic of Kazakhstan”), Professor Ulbosyn Kiyakbayeva (“Fundamental Research in National Science”), and Associate Professor Gulnaz Zhangozina (“My Swan from Aksu”).
The conference featured in-depth discussions on current issues in psychology and pedagogy, as well as modern research and applied approaches. Special attention was given to the “School of Life” club, founded by Kulyash Orazbekova, which played a vital role in fostering kindness, modesty, moral purity, and cultural behavior among students, while nurturing respect for national traditions and identity. Kulyash Aitmoldakyzy was remembered not only as a mentor in words but as a living example of wisdom, grace, and true humanity.
The gathering also touched upon the contradictions within today’s education and upbringing system. Participants noted that the academician’s works remain a timeless example of cultivating a conscious, spiritually strong young generation rooted in national values.
This international conference reaffirmed the relevance of Kulyash Orazbekova’s scientific and pedagogical heritage in the context of modern psychological thought.
