Scientific and Methodological Seminar `The First Step in Doctoral Studies: Scientific and Methodological Guidelines and Opportunities`


 

On September 16, 2025, at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology, the Department of Preschool Education and Social Pedagogy held a scientific and methodological seminar for doctoral students of the educational program `8D01201 - Preschool Education and upbringing `on the topic `The First Step in Doctoral Studies: Scientific and Methodological Guidelines and Opportunities.`


The purpose of the event was to familiarize doctoral students with the university`s scientific and methodological requirements and opportunities, to guide their research in a systematic direction, and to provide support for the successful implementation of the PhD program.
The main speaker of the seminar was the Head of the Department, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Ulbossyn Kyyakbayeva. In her presentation, she emphasized the importance of the doctoral students` first steps in scientific research, highlighting the structure of the educational program and academic requirements.


The Head of the Department for Research and the Training of Scientific and Pedagogical Staff, Gulzada Baymbetova, presented the university`s roadmap for PhD training. She outlined the main directions of the roadmap, focusing on the stages of research work, the requirements for international publications, and the tasks aimed at improving the quality of dissertations.


During the seminar, the Chair of the Dissertation Council, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Roza Bekmagambetova, spoke about the specific features of the dissertation defense procedure and provided valuable recommendations regarding the preparatory stage.


The doctoral students`advisor at the department, PhD, Acting Associate Professor Assem Bulshekbayeva, responded to participants` questions and shared practical recommendations on developing an individual study plan, publishing research articles, and effective collaboration with scientific supervisors.


In addition, the doctoral students` scientific consultants took part in the seminar and shared their views on the relevance of research topics and ways to improve the quality of scientific outcomes.


In conclusion, it was emphasized that scientific and methodological literacy, adherence to academic requirements, and effective use of the opportunities provided by the university are of particular importance for the successful advancement of doctoral students in their research journey.


This event contributed to enhancing the professional and scientific potential of young researchers, systematizing their research activities, and gave impetus to the effective implementation of the PhD program.
