Cooperation between Abai University and the International Organization for Migration (IOM)


On the 1st of July in 2024, representatives of the Abai University and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) at the United Nations met to discuss an innovative initiative aimed at improving the level of language proficiency of border guards throughout the country. The meeting focused on strategies to improve English and оriental language proficiency, which are crucial for effective communication and operational efficiency at border checkpoints.


The cooperation between Abai University and IOM marks a significant step forward in meeting the needs of the border forces of Kazakhstan. By providing these important staff with enhanced language skills, the initiative aims to improve cross-border communication, facilitate interaction with international travelers and migrants, and ensure compliance with international border management standards.


During the meeting, representatives of Abai University and IOM emphasized the importance of language training programs designed specifically for border guards. These programs will be developed in close collaboration with experts, based on Abai University`s academic achievements in language research and IOM`s extensive experience in migration management and capacity building.


Abai University and IOM are committed to ensuring the sustainability and long-term impact of this initiative, which aims to set a new standard in border management practices across Kazakhstan.
