Scientific and methodological seminar on the basis of interdisciplinary research
On the Day of Science, the staff of the A.H. Margulan Institute of Archaeology, together with a teacher of the Department of Ancient and Medieval History of Kazakhstan, held an open lecture for students of the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai on archaeozoologicaland anthropological research methods.
M. Shagirbayev, Head of the Archaeozoology Laboratory, focused on modern methods of archaeozoological studies of animal bones, clearly demonstrating osteological materials from the insitute laboratory. In addition, the causes of bone modification and pathology, and the biological characteristics of animals are described. The problem of historical reconstruction of ancient cattle breeding and hunting on the territory of Kazakhstan is revealed.
Anthropologist R. Zhanuzak spoke in detail about the morphological features of the human skeleton, methods of extracting various biological information from ancient human bones, pathological signs of skeletal elements, deformations of the skull. Laboratory analysis of the bone materials discovered during the excavations revealed the anthropological facial features of the ancient inhabitants.
During the lecture, the staff of the A. H. Margulan Institute of Archaeology organized an exhibition from the collection of osteological finds of the Laboratory of Physical Anthropology and Zooarchaeology.
The lectures were held in a free format. Students and teachers of the Institute of History and Law of KazNPU took part.
