Kazakhstani, Russian scientists and school teachers in Almaty
 continue topical research


On 7th October of 2020 year the participants of the international scientific project (Abai KazNPU and the Higher School of Economics, Moscow) dedicated to measuring reading skills of primary school students, invited to the webinar teachers of schools in Almaty who participated in the first stage in the last academic year of this study.


The webinar was hosted by Inna Antipkina, researcher at the Center for Psychometrics and Measurements in Education of Institute of Education of Higher School of Economics. She reminded the participants of the meeting about the results of the first stage of the study and discussed with them the tasks of the second stage: to check the progress in reading skills in children who participated in the experiment a year ago.


For the first time, such a survey will be conducted remotely, but project participants, teachers and student interviewers are ready to overcome the technical and organizational difficulties that arise. The regional coordinator of the project, associate professor Madina Abaeva spoke about this at the webinar.


The project manager from the Kazakh side, the Head of the Department of Russian language and literature of the Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education Saule Abisheva emphasized the relevance of this study for the education system in Kazakhstan and showed its immediate prospects.
