OFFICIAL DELEGATION FROM POLAND VISITS ABAI UNIVERSITY


Today, Bolat Tilep, Chairman of the Board and Rector of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, received an official delegation from the Pomeranian University in Słupsk, Poland. The meeting was held in honor of the 10th anniversary of cooperation between the two universities.


The delegation from Pomeranian University was led by Rector Zbigniew Osadowski. The official delegation also included Ursula Sewierka-Powelska, Head of the Student Affairs Office, Elizaveta Okunkova, Advertising Specialist, and Amankul Kazmagambetova, Director of the Abai Center for Kazakh Culture and Science in Słupsk. From Abai University, the meeting was attended by Chairman of the Board and Rector Bolat Tilep, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Banu Narbekova, Vice-Rector for Strategy and Internationalization Aigul Iskakova, Director of the Department of Educational Program Analysis Nurzhamal Oshanova, Director of the Science Department Marfuga Absatova, Head of the Physics Department Vladimir Kosov, and Acting Head of the Department of International Programs and Cooperation Bekzat Kulbaev.


During the meeting, Rector Bolat Tilep congratulated the delegation on the 10th anniversary of cooperation between the universities, emphasizing that the trust and partnership developed over the years will continue to grow. The parties discussed further development of dual degree programs, expansion of joint educational programs in several specialties, and deepening scientific cooperation. The Rector of Pomeranian University proposed opening a Polish Culture and Science Center at Abai University. The leadership of KazNPU supported the initiative and assured full support for the establishment of the center.


Scientific and academic cooperation between Abai University and Pomeranian University began in 2012. In 2015, a cooperation agreement was signed, and since then over 200 students have studied for a semester and completed internships in Poland. In 2017, a dual degree program was launched in the fields of “Russian Language and Literature” and “Russian Language in Business and Tourism.


 

To date, 28 students from Abai University have received a European dual degree, and five more students are expected to graduate this academic year. In 2019, the Abai Center was opened at Pomeranian University, and the annual international seminar “Abai Readings” has become an important platform for strengthening cultural and scientific ties between the two countries.
